Camille Rajotte’s artwork has become a symbol of welcome and transmission at the Centre multigénérationnel

The Ville de Brossard today unveiled *De l’un à l’autre*, a public artwork created by Camille Rajotte for the Centre multigénérationnel, located at 6425 Milan Boulevard. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Doreen Assaad, members of the city council, and members of the jury who participated in selecting the artwork.

Located on the west side of the Centre multigénérationnel, the sculpture—nearly 4.2 meters tall—has become a landmark in this space dedicated to bringing generations together. It enriches the city’s public art collection and marks a highlight of the 2026–2027 visual arts program.

A Circle for Exchange and Knowledge Sharing

Composed of seven aluminum pieces arranged in a circle, *De l’un à l’autre* evokes hands supporting one another. The artwork symbolizes community, cultural exchange, and the transmission of culture across generations, reflecting the Center’s mission of inclusivity.

The cut-out motifs gradually transform: the plant-inspired shapes evoke evolution and vitality, while those inspired by traditional crafts evoke heritage and support. In the evening, built-in lighting illuminates the interior of the sculpture.

“From One to the Other ” captures what we hope to create at the Centre multigénérationnel: a place where people of all ages and cultures can come together and develop a sense of belonging. “By integrating art into our daily lives, we enrich our collective heritage and make culture accessible,” said Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad.

“I envisioned *De l’un à l’autre * as a circle of exchange, solidarity, and knowledge-sharing.” Its seven elements build on one another, just like the people and generations that bring this place to life. “I hope the public will enjoy discovering the details during their visits,” added Camille Rajotte.

A work selected through a contest

Camille Rajotte was selected following a competition launched in December 2024 for professional artists in Quebec. After a portfolio review, three finalists presented a mock-up. The jury, composed of artists, architects, and municipal staff members, selected a work that is well-suited to its location, the architecture, and the purpose of the Center.

Visual Arts at the Heart of Brossard’s Cultural Identity

This opening is part of the various visual arts initiatives for 2026–2027, which aim to make the visual arts a defining feature of Brossard’s cultural identity. The City hopes to raise awareness of its artists, exhibition venues, collection, and self-guided tour “L’art public au détour,” while fostering a sense of civic pride. “De l’un à l’autre” joins the tour, which now features 39 works spread throughout the city and was made possible thanks to financial support from the Government of Quebec and the Ville de Brossard, as part of the 2021–2023 Cultural Development Agreement.
