Ville de Brossard wishes to offer a respite to taxpayers by postponing the 1st instalment tax payment deadline to 2021
Aware of the prolonged impacts associated with COVID-19, Ville de Brossard wishes to offer taxpayers and businesses a respite by postponing by eight months the deadline for the 1st instalment of tax payments for the year 2021, initially scheduled for February 8, to October 8, 2021. The town council intends to adopt a resolution to this effect at its next meeting on January 19. This will be the fourth deferral of municipal tax payments since the start of the pandemic.
“We take seriously the repercussions this crisis can have on the financial health of the population and businesses. Given the situation that persists, it is essential that we continue to look after the well-being of Brossard residents who are facing an unprecedented pandemic. We hope that this tax deferral will give a helping hand to those in need,” declared Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad.
Automatic, pre-authorized and post-dated cheque payments
Once the deadline for this payment has been adopted by the municipal council, citizens who have scheduled automatic payments and wish to take advantage of the payment deferral will be able to make the necessary adjustments online at their financial institution. For citizens who have signed up for the four-installment pre-authorized payment (PAP) service, the City will ensure administrative follow-up so that the February 8 deadline is extended to October 8, 2021. As for pre-authorized payments in 12 instalments, the City will continue with the agreed direct debit.
Citizens who have already sent in a post-dated cheque dated February 8, and who wish to take advantage of the extension of the payment due date, may contact Services Brossard at [email protected]. A representative of the Finance Department will contact them to make arrangements.
Taxpayers who are able to pay their bills on time are encouraged to do so, in order to prioritize the files of those who really need it.
