Brossard City Council,
united against racism
Brossard, June 8, 2020 – The municipal council of the City of Brossard would like to express its full solidarity with the Black community, and especially that of the United States, which has been denouncing, for 15 days now, the discrimination and systemic racism to which it has been subjected for too many years. The protests currently taking place in the U.S., Montreal and several other countries are in response to the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers who are now facing justice.
“City Council members represent the great cultural diversity of our city. Together, we speak with one voice to express our indignation at all forms of racism and discrimination, here and elsewhere”, said Ms. Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard, Ms. Michelle J. Hui, President of the Commission de la diversité culturelle and Ms. Sylvie DesGroseilliers, City Councillor of Haitian origin.
With over 57 cultural communities, Brossard is a mosaic where all women and men enjoy harmonious integration throughout the territory. The richness of their culture and traditions makes them a distinctive environment open to the world.
