Following investments by the Quebec government, Brossard and CSS Marie-Victorin announce the construction of an elementary school.
The Ville de Brossard and the Centre de services scolaires Marie-Victorin (CSS Marie-Victorin) are pleased to announce that the new elementary school, announced as a result of investments by the Quebec government, will open its doors in sector C of the city. Construction of the new school was made possible by the City’s transfer of a 15,000 square metre plot of land on boulevard du Quartier and rue Châteauneuf.
Construction of the school is scheduled to start in winter 2022, and should take around 18 months to complete. The new school, which would include eight pre-school classrooms and 24 primary classrooms, is scheduled to open in the 2024-2025 school year.
“Building new schools is a key commitment of our government. With this new elementary school in Brossard, we continue to demonstrate our firm commitment to prioritizing education and providing our young people with a school environment that is adapted, inspiring and conducive to success,” said Jean-François Roberge, Quebec’s Minister of Education.
A booming sector
With the significant growth in the number of households with school-age children in sector C of the city, the construction of a new school had become a necessity. “The addition of a new elementary school in this part of the territory will enable us to consolidate the school offer in the area, and we couldn’t be happier. This new school will be located a stone’s throw from a brand-new Université de Montréal university campus, and we’re proud that young and old alike in search of knowledge can be well served in Brossard,” noted Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard.
For the benefit of the community
The agreement reached between the city and the CSS Marie-Victorin opens the door to a collaboration that will benefit not only students, but all residents of the area. This signing not only marks the beginning of the construction of a new school that will benefit the community, it also underscores a climate of consolidated collaboration between the CSS Marie-Victorin and the Ville de Brossard,” said Marie-Dominique Taillon, General Manager of the CSS Marie-Victorin. In our values, we believe that a community must develop around a school. With this vision in mind, we want to offer infrastructures that are used by the whole community, while promoting the educational success of our students,” she added.
