Brossard boosts its grants to organizations and presents its Action Plan for people with disabilities

17 February 2021 Last update 17/05/2025

The City will provide additional support to local organizations and continue its efforts to help people with disabilities.

Ville de Brossard will offer an extra helping hand to local organizations to support their pandemic initiatives. Last night, the city council adopted a resolution enabling the city to enhance its financial assistance programs for this clientele. In addition, the council adopted the 2021-2022 Disability Action Plan, which will enable Brossard to become even more accessible and inclusive.

Grants to organizations

Ville de Brossard recognizes the importance of the contribution made by organizations to the quality of life of its citizens. That’s why we’ve increased our operating assistance program from $400 to a maximum of $1,000 per application, and our special projects program from $2,000 to a maximum of $5,000.

The adoption of this bonus will enable and ensure a transition before the introduction of a new Recognition and Support Policy for organizations, scheduled for this summer.
“It’s important for the City to do more to help our organizations get through this tumultuous period. This resolution will enable these organizations to carry out concrete projects that will have a positive impact on our community,” explained Mayor Doreen Assaad.

Adoption of the Disability Action Plan (DAP)

With the submission and adoption of the PAPH, the city is pursuing its efforts and demonstrating its determination to gradually reduce the barriers faced by people with disabilities. The plan was developed in collaboration with local organizations and partners, and with the participation of women living with disabilities. This participation has enabled the city to identify various measures that will increase the autonomy of disabled people and improve their quality of life.

The PAPH is a continuation of the action plans previously drawn up by the city, with a view to integrating universal accessibility into its interventions.
For example, the Brossard aquatic complex was designed and built to offer fully accessible facilities adapted to the needs of the entire population.

“We are fortunate to evolve in an incredible living environment where inclusion and diversity must be at the heart of our concerns. With this action plan, the City is demonstrating its commitment to improving its municipal structures and services to help our fellow citizens take full advantage of the rich community life on offer,” said Doreen Assaad.
