3,000 trees planted and 500 grants awarded
The Ville de Brossard has drawn up an environmental report for 2025, marked by concrete actions, structuring investments and increased citizen involvement. Greening the territory, protecting natural environments and supporting eco-responsible initiatives: the year 2025 confirms the acceleration of the municipal environmental shift.
“Our environmental commitment is reflected in concrete, measurable and consistent actions. We are continuing our efforts to protect our territory and improve the quality of life of our population today and for future generations,” declared Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard.
Accelerated greening
Several concrete actions have been implemented to accelerate the greening of the territory, including :

- nearly 3,000 trees were planted on municipal property;
- a community reforestation project was carried out along Daigneault Creek;
- 200 trees were distributed to citizens on Arbor Day;
- a new micro-forest has been planted near Route 132 to help filter the air and reduce noise.
🌱 These interventions help to increase the urban canopy and improve the area’s climatic resilience.
Protecting and restoring natural environments
Several major initiatives have been deployed, including :

- the continuation of the nearly four-hectare meadow project in the Bois de Brossard to help preserve rural birds;
- enlargement of the biodiversity corridor in sector A;
- a study to restore the habitat of the chorus frog at Bois de Brossard.
🌱 These actions help to protect ecosystems and maintain local biodiversity.
Encouraging eco-responsible actions
The city is also continuing its direct support for citizens:
- nearly 500 grant applications processed (water-saving equipment, greening of private property, outdoor ecological tools);
- green infrastructure as part of the construction of the Centre multigénérationnel to optimize stormwater management;
- planning new green infrastructure projects to enhance adaptation to intense rainfall events;
- support for the citizen committee responsible for the Santerre park food forest to promote urban agriculture.
Citizen mobilization at the heart of the transition
The ecological transition depends on collective commitment.

- 6 educational walks were offered by the Green Patrol;
- 536 kg of waste were removed during a clean-up operation on the banks of the St. Lawrence River thanks to the organization Vigile Verte;
- Several awareness-raising kiosks were set up in parks and at City Hall.
A structured, sustainable vision
These achievements are part of the implementation of the Environmental Policy and the Climate Change Adaptation Plan (CCAP), which guide municipal decisions in terms of ecological transition and sustainable development.
2026: consolidate and amplify
In 2026, the city will continue to roll out its Environmental Policy and intensify its actions in the areas of heavy rainfall management and green infrastructure, in a planned and coherent approach across the territory.
