The Georgette-Lepage Brossard Library wins an award from France!

The city is very proud to announce that the Georgette-Lepage Brossard Library has distinguished itself overseas, winning a prestigious award yesterday for the design of its new Espace jeunes.

The library won the Grand prix Livres Hebdo des Bibliothèques in the “Prix spécial de la bibliothèque Hors France” category. The special prize was awarded on October 28 at the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève in Paris. The prize is awarded to a French-speaking library outside France and its overseas departments. The library presented not only the new Espace jeunes, but also other spaces offered to citizens, such as the Fab Lab Brossard, Espace Bouvry and Espace SODA, to illustrate the diversity of services and their interconnectivity.

Every year, Livres Hebdo organizes the Grand Prix des Bibliothèques francophones to promote innovative players and initiatives in the world of libraries. Awarded by an exceptional inter-professional and joint jury, and with the ambition of federating the entire French-speaking library world, the Hebdo book awards recognize establishments offering particularly effective and innovative services. The winning projects, including the library, will be the subject of a special feature in LH Le Magazine, scheduled for publication in autumn 2022.

The public is invited to come and discover and rediscover the Espace Jeunes, which caters for children aged 0 to 12 and their families. Several areas have been set aside for specific uses, including the Agora de l’arbre enchanté with puppets and early-learning games, the Atelier for school groups and technological activities, and the Quai du savoir for study and quiet activities. A host of techno equipment such as smart tables, iPads, light walls and floor projections energize the space, while a variety of surprising reading seats in the stacks diversify the reading experience. So every visit is unique!
