19 June 2019 Last update 17/05/2025

Longueuil, June 18, 2019. – The new team of 18 police cadets from the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) officially took up their duties on May 27, and will be patrolling in pairs for the summer.

For the 6th year running, there will be new faces on the streets, parks and bike paths of Longueuil, Brossard, Boucherville, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and Saint-Lambert this summer, with a view to fostering greater proximity to citizens while reinforcing their sense of security.

Cadets have been tasked with interacting with young people at day camps, providing safety and prevention advice to shopkeepers, and supporting police officers during traffic bypass procedures.

Finally, the 18 cadets will be on the road until August 16 to raise awareness of the need to respect certain municipal by-laws, such as animal control, which is a major concern for SPAL and the general public, and park peace and quiet.
