Brossard was honoured to welcome 35 new Canadian citizens at a citizenship ceremony
Ville de Brossard was honored to welcome 35 new Canadian citizens at a citizenship ceremony held at City Hall on November 13. The event, organized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in collaboration with the City of Brossard, was chaired by Citizenship Judge Rania Sfeir. The new arrivals, more than half of whom are Brossard residents, took the oath and received their certificate of Canadian citizenship.
Brossard’s mayor, Doreen Assaad, welcomed the new Canadians. She highlighted the contribution of immigrants to the diversity and richness of the community, sharing the story of her parents who left Egypt to immigrate to Quebec in search of a better quality of life and a brighter future for their family.
“Immigration is a fundamental pillar of Canada’s wealth, both economically and culturally. It plays a crucial role in enriching our society, bringing skills, talents and a diversity of perspectives that help shape a shared future where different cultures and traditions meet, blend and reinforce each other. All this creates a dynamic and inclusive community. From the bottom of my heart, I wish all new citizens the same happiness that my family discovered here,” declared Mayor Doreen Assaad.
This is the second time that the Mayor of Brossard has welcomed new citizens at a citizenship ceremony, a unique opportunity to celebrate the richness of cultural diversity and to reinforce the sense of belonging, not only to the Canadian community, but also to that of Quebec and Brossard.
