The Ville de Brossard celebrated the retirement of Claude Déziel at its October 15 municipal council meeting.

At the October 15 municipal council meeting, Ville de Brossard and all its employees celebrated the retirement of Claude Déziel, Section Head – Construction and Inspection, in the Technical Services Department, after 53 years of loyal service. For the occasion, Mr. Déziel was accompanied by his wife Carole Lavoie, his daughters Stéphanie and Catherine, and his granddaughter Mathilde.

Initially hired as a surveyor’s helper in 1971, Mr. Déziel has had the opportunity to work in a number of departments throughout his many years with the city, and has even held the position of inspector. It was by completing courses at CEGEP and Polytechnique Montréal that he was able to advance to higher positions, culminating in the position of Section Manager – Construction and Inspection, a position he held until his last day of work on September 30.

Once an inspector, always an inspector!

Also a Brussells resident for over 60 years, this municipal enthusiast regularly roams the city’s streets, not hesitating to note defective traffic lights or potholes and pass them on to his former colleagues in charge of public works, so that they can be quickly rectified. In addition to being a model employee, Mr. Déziel is also a model citizen.

“With his unparalleled sense of collaboration and teamwork, Claude has proven to be an invaluable asset to his managers and colleagues throughout his career, and has become a source of inspiration to new employees, passing on his passion for the municipal world as a legacy,” said Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard. “We will undoubtedly miss the man nicknamed the city’s encyclopedia,” she added.
