26th edition of Public Library Week | The Bibliothèque de Brossard Georgette-Lepage, bursting with life at the heart of the community!

18 October 2024 Last update 17/05/2025

Many activities at the library for Québec Public Library Week from October 19 to 26, 2024.

For its 26thedition , Québec Public Library Week will be back from October 19 to 26, 2024, under the theme Ma biblio aux mille et un visages. The Bibliothèque de Brossard Georgette-Lepage is delighted to highlight the multi-dimensional richness of public libraries.

This year, Québecers are invited to explore the diversity of services offered by public libraries and the people who bring them to life on a daily basis. Whether staff, users of all ages, families, children, students or newcomers… libraries are rooted in their community!

“It’s important to remember that the strength of libraries lies largely in the plurality of their audiences and the variety of their services. The Bibliothèque de Brossard Georgette-Lepage is a prime example of this diversity. Welcoming more than 7,000 visitors every week, it enables people of all ages and backgrounds to enrich themselves through a multitude of services, a panoply of activities and its varied collections,” says Mayor Doreen Assaad.

Activities for the people of Brossard

Public Library Week is the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover the many facets of your library: social, welcoming, educational, fun, cultural, friendly, family-oriented, multicultural and more. No wonder the public library is the most popular cultural institution in Québec!

Activities for young and old!

Several activities have been specially organized for this week:

  • technoportrait workshop for ages 16 and up;
  • Chibi self-portrait workshop for 12 to 17 year-olds;
  • self-portrait workshop for all;
  • author meeting with Éric Chacour;
  • conversation between historian Réal Fortin and novelist Louise Chevrier;
  • virtual reality workshop for seniors.

Brossard residents are also invited to take part in one of the two contests on offer. First, residents aged 5 and over can submit their creative self-portrait (drawing, collage, digital image, etc.), from October 19 to 26, to add to the library’s giant portrait gallery. Then it’s time to put pen to paper. A great memory from the library? Or with people who work there? Would you like to share your love for this place of culture? Lovers of the written word are invited to send their entries to semaineesbibliotheques.ca/concours between October1 and 26.
