Progress schedule

Terminé

In 2017 and 2018, a total of six municipal infrastructure projects and three private real estate projects began or will soon begin in Sector C in Brossard, in addition to a Réseau express métropolitain (REM) station.

For more information on each project, please visit the Major Projects page.

Why did you plan all your work at the same time?
That was never our intention. Various delays beyond our control, such as those related to expropriating land, obtaining permits and signing agreements with stakeholders, have forced us to modify the timetable of certain projects.

Why not work at night, or even 24 hours a day, to speed up project schedules?
This possibility has been considered. It is used when the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Night work generates considerable nuisances such as noise, light and dust, and entails additional costs that Brossard residents would ultimately have to bear.

That said, the Grande Allée worksite recently undertook occasional night work to avoid further traffic congestion in the area.

What are you doing to minimize the impact on our quality of life?
Far from standing idly by, the city’s teams are working tirelessly to minimize the impact on residents’ quality of life. Among other things, the Ville de Brossard has implemented a nuisance management plan for Sector C that aims to :

  • reduce the inconvenience caused by the work at source;
  • maintain a communication link with the citizens, companies and institutions concerned;
  • manage and follow up on complaints and requests;
  • perform more inspections and maintenance.

The city also has a number of regulations governing construction sites, whether to reduce noise, dust or public nuisance. Worksites are regularly inspected to ensure compliance with regulations.

Last but not least, we’ve added a new feature to our website: an interactive map (currently in beta version) that lets you see where construction work is taking place and what obstructions are to be expected in your area. It can be accessed at any time from the home page of our site.

When will the work be completed?

Here is a summary of the deadlines for the various work sites in Sector C:

  • Most of the work on Grande Allée, boulevard du Quartier, Viaduc du Quartier and the new access road to autoroute 10 will be completed this fall. Some minor work may have to be carried out on these sites in 2020, but these will not have such a major impact.
  • Work on the REM (at Terminale Rive-Sud, du Quartier and Panama stations) will continue in phases until the entry into service of the REM on the South Shore, scheduled for December 2021.
  • The developers of the Brossard-sur-le-Parc, Éco-Quartier de la Gare and Solar Uniquartier projects are also continuing their phased development.
    Please note, however, that these timetables are given as a guide only, and are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances encountered during the work.

You can also consult the leaflet sent to Area C residents last May, which describes the work underway this summer and fall.

The team of flagmen on Grande Allée does not ensure safe traffic flow. What can I do to let you know?
First of all, you should know that we have a site coordinator on site at all times, ensuring that the flagmen’s work is carried out to the highest standards.

In addition, police officers have been on site sporadically since the week of June 11, to enforce the highway safety code when necessary.

Work on the section between Autoroute 30 and Boulevard du Quartier is now complete. As a result, flagmen will no longer be required on the site, unless our traffic experts reassess the situation.

If, however, you have experienced a situation where you felt your safety on the road was not assured by the flagmen, you can contact Services Brossard at 450-923-6311 or write to them at [email protected]. They will ensure that your request is passed on to the people responsible, so that action can be taken if necessary.

A public meeting was held on Monday, December 3, at the Centre socioculturel Alphonse Lepage (7905, avenue San Francisco, Brossard) to inform the hundred or so citizens in attendance about the progress of major projects in Sector C and to answer their questions.
Watch this public meeting now.
