About the Voix migrantes project

Now in its 3rd year, the Voix migrantes project aims to support the learning of French and promote linguistic diversity in reception and francization classes by combining writing with other modes of expression. The works in this exhibition were created from texts written during writing workshops held in the classroom, the library, the museum, the park, the city or… in the mountains! After many hours of playing with words, both in French and in the other languages they have mastered, the students here give you a piece of themselves.

Encountering oneself and others is at the heart of the project. It is lived as much through the writing of identity texts as through the sharing of personal and collective experiences with peers and the community. The aim of reaching as many eyes and ears as possible was the driving force behind the exhibition.

The exhibition theme reference

The theme of the exhibition, Nos impressions mouvantes, refers to the different artistic techniques used this year to bring the texts to life. Students left their mark in clay, used solar prints to express themselves, drew their portrait with wire or with their voice. Playing with different typographic styles enabled them to create calligrams, abécédaires and acrostics designed with both physical and digital inks.

Over 500 students and 200 adults involved

Over the past three years, the Voix migrantes project has involved more than 500 students in primary and secondary reception classes, and more than 200 adults in francization classes. This major project is part of the 2021-2024 Youth Action Plan. The project was made possible thanks to financial support from the Direction de l’intégration linguistique et de l’éducation interculturelle of the Ministère de l’Éducation. The Voix migrantes project is the fruit of collaboration between youth and adult education teachers, intercultural mediators and educational consultants from the Centre de services scolaires Marie-Victorin, and valuable external partners.
