MULTIPLICITY explores the themes of folding in a variety of ways: form, repetition, scale, and rhythm. Jean-François Roy primarily presents two series of works, centered on sculpture and installation.
The exhibition invites visitors on a stroll through an unusual garden filled with three-dimensional works resembling totems Slim and freestanding, these pieces seem to defy balance. Each one highlights the contrast between the rigidity of the metal and the movement created by the folding.
Like giant origami figures, the metal sculptures unfold, twist, and stretch into an infinite variety of shapes that appear fragile. A duality thus emerges within the sculptures themselves: a tension is revealed between rigidity and fragility.
The immersive exhibition invites visitors to walk around the sculptures and observe the interactions that arise between the works, the space, the light, and their own movements.
