Description
Interrupted Cycles explores the transformation of the photographic image through screen printing. Using photographs of clouds, the artist layers colors and transparencies to create works that are constantly evolving. Between memory, perception, and the materiality of ink, each print becomes the trace of a process in which the image fragments, reassembles itself, and invites the viewer to slow down their gaze.
Each new image is printed from a stack of paper consisting of both blank sheets and previous prints. The images are thus layered one on top of the other, creating unexpected connections between different stages of the work. The cloud then becomes an unstable shape, both familiar and ever-changing.
Through this exhibition, the artist invites us to slow down, observe the details, and take a fresh look at the images around us.

Dominique Desbiens’s artistic practice centers on the transformation of images and the subjectivity of memory. The images go through several stages: photography, digital editing, and screen printing. Each shift in medium transforms the original image, altering its legibility and shifting its meaning. The images are transformed, become more dense, or fragment. The boundary between the finished work and the work in progress remains deliberately blurred.
This unstable relationship with the image parallels contemporary visual saturation. Faced with images that are ubiquitous, quickly consumed, and often forgotten, the artist seeks to slow down the viewer’s gaze and offer a different temporal dimension of perception.
