HAN

Opening date : July 05 2024 - September 05 2024

About the artist

Self-taught is the word that best defines HAN. His earliest memories of his passion for painting go back to his childhood. Over the years, he has deepened his knowledge of this art form, exploring what he has gained and what he has lost in his ability to paint the beauties of nature.

Today, he focuses on balance and harmony in the arrangement of the elements that make up his work. Indeed, composition is very important in traditional Chinese painting. You can juxtapose various elements that, at first glance, have no relation to each other, in search of the harmony of earthly and cosmic elements to raise awareness of beauty. The images chosen are highly representative of the composition of nature and society, philosophy, religion, morality and art. For example, the peony represents wealth and prestige, the lotus peace and harmony, the crane long life, the hibiscus and the bat fortune, the pine strength, the bamboo uprightness and simplicity, the clivia good manners…

Traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting according to HAN

As an artist, HAN often teaches and exhibits Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting at universities, colleges and artists’ groups. As an actor, he has played over 30 roles in TV shows, films and commercials (active member of Actra and Union des Artistes). As a professor, he has taught Mandarin at McGill and Concordia universities.
