Description
The works of artist Ma Qian reflect an approach centered on the observation of landscape and the human figure. It shows the importance he attaches to working on the motif, which he sees as a dialogue with nature. His style is inspired by Impressionism, particularly in his attention to light, color and the overall atmosphere of his paintings.
His free, rhythmic brushstrokes create a balance between material density, personal expression and decorative quality. Over the years, Ma Qian has developed a unique language where observation, emotion and poetry meet. Each of his works offers a space for sensitive contemplation.
About the artist
Graduating from a Chinese art academy in 1995, Ma Qian received rigorous training in painting before teaching there for several years. This period consolidated his mastery of drawing, visual structure and chromatic relationships, while deepening his reflection on art. Arriving in Canada in 2005, he enriched his pictorial language through contact with a new cultural context. His works, exhibited at the Toronto Art Fair and the Foire internationale d’art du Vieux-Port de Montréal, are now part of public and private collections, including that of the Montréal Chinese Hospital.
