Description
With Black Forms, Open Lines, Kervens Fils presents a series of powerful paintings in which portraits become a space for remembrance, resistance, and self-affirmation. The characters, some of whom are drawn from popular culture, are depicted primarily in black and white, giving them a historical feel. They seem to be inhabited by different voices, eras, and memories, and bear the marks of political and social realities.
In contrast, the backgrounds consist of solid areas of raw, vivid, intense, and dazzling colors. Thus, the works reflect a refusal to fade into the background, while drawing attention to the expressive power of the figures depicted. They leave no one indifferent.
Through expressive figures, striking colors, and raw materials, the artist explores the tensions between identity, power, and survival. An exhibition that rejects neutrality and invites visitors to observe and engage in dialogue with the perspective of others.

With a wealth of diverse experience—both in tattooing and in auto body repair—Kervens Fils enjoys creating art on unconventional objects. He skillfully harmonizes his art with the imperfections of a surface.
Kervens Fils works with various materials and textures using oil paint, acrylics, pencil, charcoal, and airbrush, auto body products, and more. His portraits demonstrate his versatility and mastery of technique: abstraction and realism coexist; vibrant colors are juxtaposed with shades of black and white.
