This conference analyzes the geopolitical, ideological, and diplomatic tensions currently shaping the Middle East, as well as the region’s growing role in the world order. It examines the causes of the conflicts in Iran, Gaza, and Lebanon, as well as the strategies of the various actors involved. It also highlights the influence of non-state actors such as Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as that of regional powers (Israel, Iran, the Gulf states) and international powers (the United States, China, Russia, Europe) on the dynamics of the conflicts. With Sami Aoun, professor emeritus at the School of Applied Politics at the University of Sherbrooke and director of the Observatory on the Middle East and North Africa at the Raoul Dandurand Chair in Strategic and Diplomatic Studies (UQAM).
