In an Iranian society undergoing profound change and in an international context undergoing transformation, this conference offers a better understanding of current events in Iran and their repercussions on the world. Hanieh Ziaei, political scientist and specialist on Iran, will discuss the central role played by youth and women in the dynamics of social and political change, as well as the economic crisis and the crisis of legitimacy currently facing the Iranian regime. The conference will look back at recent repression, including the massacre in January 2026 that claimed many unarmed civilian victims, and at the demands of civil society for radical change, freedom, separation of religion and politics, and the establishment of a secular state.
