Arbor Day

This event took place from August 06 2025 to August 20 2025

Arbor Day is back!

The event, which has given more than 10,000 plants to the people of Brossard since 2010, offers you the chance to reserve a tree, for only $10, of very good quality and size, starting August 6, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., while supplies last.

The city is thus pursuing its commitment to the environment with concrete gestures such as the offer of 200 new quality trees, at a reduced cost, to citizens, thus enabling us to continue our efforts to increase Brossard’s forest cover and help reduce heat islands.

Planting a first tree in the front yard

Registrations are closed for 2025.

Planting a tree means :

  • Help improve air quality (smog reduction, carbon capture, oxygen production)
  • Providing shelter and food for birds
  • Controlling erosion and helping to manage rainwater

These visible and inspiring actions testify to a shared desire to build a resilient community that respects nature and looks to the future.

Delivery of your tree

The selected tree will be delivered directly to your home between September 8 and October 3, 2025. No need to move.

Available species

  • Serviceberry

  • White mulberry
  • White pine
  • Liberty apple tree

Don’t delay, the trees fly away!

Eligibility criteria

  • Citizens of Brossard only
  • Only one entry (tree) per home address is permitted
  • If you have inadvertently reserved 2 trees, we will contact you to confirm your choice of 2.
  • For multi-unit buildings (e.g. condos), citizens can register for one tree per occupancy unit. However, they themselves must obtain permission from the syndicate to plant a tree on their land.

Also, to ensure that the trees obtained through Arbor Day are planted in Brossard, on the participants’ land, the city will be carrying out verifications on this subject in the spring of 2026.

Please note that the city reserves the right to refuse applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria.

Make a concrete gesture to green YOUR city! Reserve your plant.

Frequently asked questions

Yes! Autumn is a good time to plant a tree, as the soil is still cool. Autumn conditions allow trees to further develop their root systems. Moreover, the tree will be less susceptible to drought as rainfall is more abundant in autumn.

No, the supplier will deliver the tree to your home only. You’ll need to choose a location…You’ll need to choose a location for your new tree and plant it. Consult our guide to recommended distances when planting trees on private property.

In preparation for planting your tree, be sure to pack the following items:

  • From the ground;
  • Mulch;
  • Shovel;
  • Pruning shears;
  • Mycorrhizae (optional; microscopic fungi that help roots absorb nutrients).
  1. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and twice the diameter of the pot.
  2. Place the plant in the center of the hole, then add mycorrhizae (optional). Don’t add fertilizer, as this step will be carried out the following spring.
  3. Add soil, tamp gently and water thoroughly.
  4. Add a 2- to 3-inch layer of mulch. Mulch keeps the soil warm, prolonging rooting time and preventing frost-thaw heaving.
  5. Water as needed until frost to keep the soil moist, but never soggy, until the very end of the growing season.
  6. In spring: add fertilizer to feed your plant!
