Arbor Day is back!
In fact, this initiative—which has provided more than 10,000 plants to Brossard residents since 2010—offers you the opportunity to reserve a tree, for only $10, a high-quality, well-sized tree, starting September1, 2026, at 12:30 p. m., while supplies last. Compost will also be available this year upon registration.
Important information to remember
The Ville de Brossard is continuing its commitment to the environment through concrete actions, such as offering 350 new, high-quality trees at a reduced cost to residents, thereby enabling us to continue our efforts to increase Brossard’s forest cover and help reduce heat islands.
- Tree Day and the compost distribution take place on the same day, at the same location, and registration is required for both events.
- On the form, you will be able to choose either compost only or a tree only.
- There is a limit of 200 liters of compost per address;
- Specific time slots will be available for picking up your tree and compost, and you must adhere to them
- Access to the site will not be permitted outside of your scheduled time or without a reservation.

What do I need to bring when I come to pick up my tree and/or compost on October 3?

Planting a tree means :
- Help improve air quality (smog reduction, carbon capture, oxygen production)
- Providing shelter and food for birds
- Controlling erosion and helping to manage rainwater

Eligibility criteria
- Citizens of Brossard only
- Only one entry (tree) per home address is permitted
- If you have inadvertently reserved 2 trees, we will contact you to confirm your choice of 2.
- For multi-unit buildings (e.g. condos), citizens can register for one tree per occupancy unit. However, they themselves must obtain permission from the syndicate to plant a tree on their land.
Therefore, to ensure that the trees obtained through Tree Day are properly planted in Brossard—specifically on participants’ property—the Ville de Brossard will conduct inspections starting in the summer of 2027.
Please note that the city reserves the right to refuse applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria.

Yes! Autumn is a good time to plant a tree, as the soil is still cool. Autumn conditions allow trees to further develop their root systems. Moreover, the tree will be less susceptible to drought as rainfall is more abundant in autumn.
No, this year, Tree Day is doing things a little differently!
The selected tree must be picked up during the one-day distribution event on Saturday, October 3. When you register, you’ll be able to choose a time slot to pick it up.
To ensure the best possible conditions for planting your tree, be sure to have the following items ready:
- From the ground;
- Mulch;
- Shovel;
- Pruning shears;
- Mycorrhizae (optional; microscopic fungi that help roots absorb nutrients).
- Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and twice the diameter of the pot.
- Place the plant in the center of the hole, then add mycorrhizae (optional). Don’t add fertilizer, as this step will be carried out the following spring.
- Add soil, tamp gently and water thoroughly.
- Add a 2- to 3-inch layer of mulch. Mulch keeps the soil warm, prolonging rooting time and preventing frost-thaw heaving.
- Water as needed until frost to keep the soil moist, but never soggy, until the very end of the growing season.
- In spring: add fertilizer to feed your plant!

Since the size of the trees at the time of distribution cannot be guaranteed, it is not certain that the tree will be accepted if planted after felling.
