Doreen Assaad
Mayor of the Ville de Brossard in 2017, 2021 and 2025
Doreen Assaad was elected mayor of Ville de Brossard in 2017, 2021 and 2025. The second mayor in the city’s history, she was the first to chair a parity council – on two occasions – and to sit on the Longueuil agglomeration council. She will also serve as vice-president of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) and chair the Economic Development and Metropolitan Facilities and Services Commission of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM).
A resident of Brossard for some fifteen years, it was her love of her city that prompted her to enter municipal politics in 2009 as a city councillor. During this time, she has sat on numerous municipal council committees, including the Family and Seniors Committee, the Intercultural Committee, the Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Committee and the Urban Planning Advisory Committee.
Throughout her career, she has put families and the people of Brossard first. As mayor, she initiated the multigenerational activity center project, which she hopes to pursue in the current term in collaboration with the elected members of the municipal council.
And as president of Espace Muni, she fully embodies the mission of this organization, which works with municipalities and MRCs seeking support, tools and inspiration to offer their citizens a healthy, active, supportive, inclusive and sustainable living environment.
Doreen Assaad graduated from the Université de Montréal with a degree in applied mathematics and computer science. As a specialist in business process optimization, she has worked for major companies such as Mouvement Desjardins, Canadian National and Bombardier Aerospace. She is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt agent. This method is used to reduce process variability and thus improve overall service quality.
Doreen Assaad is married with three children. Her favorite activities include running, yoga and walking her dog Charly.
