Doreen Assaad

450 923-6325

Mayor of Brossard

Doreen Assaad was elected mayor of Brossard in 2017, 2021 and 2025. The second female mayor in the city’s history, she was also the first to preside over a parity council on two occasions, and to sit on the Longueuil agglomeration council. She also chairs the Caucus des municipalités de la Métropole at the Union des municipalités du Québec (UMQ) and sits on its Board of Directors. She also sits on the boards of Tourisme Montérégie and the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM).

A resident of Ville de Brossard for over twenty years, it was out of love for her city that she made the leap into municipal politics in 2009 as a municipal councillor. Over the years, she has been actively involved in several municipal council committees, including Family and Seniors, Intercultural, Environment and Sustainable Development, as well as the Urban Planning Advisory Committee. She has also served as vice-president of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) and president of economic development at the CMM.

Throughout her career, Doreen Assaad has placed families and the quality of life of citizens at the heart of her priorities. As mayor, she brought the Centre multigénérationnel de Brossard project to fruition, and is pursuing the development of Brossard’s future downtown through an ambitious, sustainable urban planning vision.

At the same time, as President of Espace MUNI, she fully embodies the organization’s mission to support municipalities and MRCs in creating healthy, active, supportive, inclusive and sustainable living environments.

A graduate of Université de Montréal in applied mathematics and computer science, Doreen Assaad has worked as a business process optimization specialist for major organizations such as Mouvement Desjardins, CN and Bombardier. She is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, a recognized expert in continuous improvement and service quality optimization.

Married with three children, Doreen Assaad is particularly fond of running, yoga and walks around Brossard with her dog Charly.
