Composition

  • The committee is made up of elected members;
  • Members are appointed by resolution of the Municipal Council.

Officers

  • One municipal employee, Communications Director Colette Ouellet, acting as Committee Secretary;
  • On request, internal and external resources can be invited to present files to the committee.

General mandate

  • Carry out annual mandates assigned by the planning committee;
  • Analyze toponymy requests and all requests for the naming of geographical entities submitted by the planning committee;
  • Designate the following places and spaces:
    • Traffic routes (streets, paths, etc.);
    • Parks and green spaces;
    • Public buildings and public halls within these buildings;
    • All other public places and spaces.
  • For numbered roads, watercourses and other important topographical features, the committee can make recommendations to the municipal council, which then makes a recommendation to the Commission de toponymie du Québec, the only body empowered to formalize these features.
