Composition

  • The commission is made up of a group of people (elected officials, citizens, organization representatives) capable of networking, identifying leads and attracting new opportunities to Brossard;
  • Members are appointed by resolution of the municipal council.
  • Two elected members of the municipal council;
  • One member – Développement économique de l’agglomération de Longueuil – DEL;
  • One member – Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de la Rive-Sud – CCRIS;
  • A member – Association des gens d’affaires de Brossard – AGA Brossard;
  • One member – Tourisme Montérégie;
  • One member – Pôle de l’économie sociale de l’agglomération de Longueuil;
  • Three members – Contractors.

Ex-officio members

  • The Managing Director is an ex-officio member.

Officers

  • Executive Vice President, Quality of Life;
  • A managerial employee from the urban planning department, responsible for administrative follow-up and secretarial duties;
  • On request, internal and external resources can be invited to present files to the committee_.

General mandate

  • Carry out annual mandates assigned by the planning committee;
  • Recommend to the municipal council the preferred orientations for economic development and propose priority projects;
  • Advise the city on its strategic orientations to stimulate economic growth;
  • Act primarily in collaboration and complementarity with Développement économique Longueuil (DEL) to guide the city council’s economic decisions;
  • Act in concert with local stakeholders in their efforts to promote, encourage and facilitate growth opportunities, in order to broaden and strengthen the local economy, as well as diversify the community’s service offering;
  • Study and recommend actions, in collaboration with City management, as part of a marketing and promotional approach aimed at increasing the diversity of the industrial, commercial and institutional sector.

Specific mandates

  • Draw up a portrait of the region’s assets and its current and projected supply of office, commercial and industrial space;
  • Identify promising economic niches and confirm Brossard’s “economic brand image”;
  • Identify centers of excellence, job opportunities and head offices;
  • Analyze the potential of commercial tourism as an opportunity for economic growth;
  • Identify arteries or sectors to be upgraded and propose development projects in line with the city’s orientations.

Frequency of meetings

Meetings are held at least once (1) a quarter, or more frequently if necessary.

Quorum

The quorum is set at five (5) members, including at least one 1) elected member of the municipal council.
