Gala de l’action bénévole 2026
Volunteering has a big impact in Brossard… and far beyond!
Once again this year, the process has been greatly simplified – and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Let volunteer commitment shine

Until December 2, the Gala de l’action bénévole is calling for nominations to honor outstanding volunteers who invest time and energy in the community, making a difference in the lives of others. Whether in Brossard or elsewhere, every gesture counts. Help us recognize those who bring joy, support and hope to others in the community. An evaluation committee will award a prize in the appropriate category. Successful candidates will be honoured before their peers at an awards ceremony in May.
Eligibility criteria
Eligible volunteers must meet the following criteria:
- The nominee’s commitment may have been made on Brossard territory, for the benefit of Brossard residents, or it may be a Brossard resident whose volunteer work extends beyond Brossard’s borders.
- The person must offer his or her time and services free of charge. The actions recognized must be linked to the volunteer work carried out and dissociated from paid work.
- Submission is conditional on the transmission of at least one letter of support (maximum of three) written by individuals or a group of individuals in the community with direct knowledge of the nominee’s contribution. These letters should highlight his volunteer achievements. In the case of a person involved in an organization recognized by the city, the letter of support must be signed or co-signed by the organization’s board of directors.
- Evaluation of an application may be postponed to a later year if the person or organization is the subject of a denunciation or investigation.

Distinction categories
An evaluation committee will determine in which of the following categories successful candidates will be honoured:
- Mayor’s Award: recognizes individuals who have dedicated a minimum of 20 years of their lives to volunteering, and who have inspired other volunteers, led volunteer groups and achieved other outstanding volunteer achievements.
- Prix Jeune en action: recognizes the work of volunteers under the age of 30 who have demonstrated commitment and involvement in their community.
- Emerging Volunteer Award: recognizes the significant contribution of a new volunteer who has been working for less than two years within an organization or in the City of Brossard.
- Prix Aîné en mouvement: recognizes the exceptional commitment of seniors who volunteer their time to improve the quality of life of their fellow citizens.
- Committed Citizen Award: presented to a citizen who is not part of a recognized organization of the City of Brossard (city committee, occasional volunteer, citizen initiative, etc.) and recognizes people involved in the community, cultural, sports or environmental protection sectors. Citizen involvement goes beyond one-off volunteering for a project, activity or cause, and is part of a sustained, concrete approach within the Brussells community.
- Innovaction Award: honouring an organization or group of volunteers that, through the realization of its mission, has positively enriched the community in an innovative way, particularly in the field of environmental protection.
